Swimming
Its been really hot recently and we have been swimming most days.
Yesterday we had a day off school (was a teacher only day) so dad put the trampoline next to the pool and we were doing bombs from it.
Cool aye!!
Tonight we are going to Rome for the weekend. Mum and dad say there are lots of cool things to see but we are most excited about real Italian Pizzas!
Palma Mallorca
Last weekend we went to visit mum and dad friends who work on a boat in Palma Mallorca. We only have a half days school on Wednesday plus Thursday and Friday were holidays (well actually Thursday was a holiday, but everything is closed Friday too because they call it a bridge day and it gives them a longer weekend) so we had 5 days in Mallorca.
Emily and Jason live on the boat, it is really nice. We had a cool view over the boats from our hotel and went out for dinner every night (except the first night when Emily cooked us a roast)
Some of the boats were massive. One is so big it has a airport scanner to x-ray the luggage – and it is privately owned!
We went swimming every day and went on a drive around some of the island. We also went to the world famous lamb restaurant for lunch one day. It is on the top of a big hill with a really wind-y road but is worth the trip. It took us about half an hour to get up the hill and about 10 minutes to get down!
On the last night we went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and our ice-cream Sundays were huge – Ariki’s was almost as big as his head!
England and Legoland
Mum, Tamati and Ariki went to England to visit our cousin Henry a week after Ariki got out of hospital. Ariki was still pretty tired so we tried not to overdo it, but we did manage to full a whole suitcase with books, went to the local fair, had English fish and chips, mince pies, subway and chedder cheese - yum! (mum said we had to let you know that we had healthy food too).
Uncle Alban took the Friday off work and we went to legoland with Henry. Mum had to push Ariki around in a wheelchair because it was too far for him to walk, but it worked out really well and meant that he was able to go on some of the rides because he wasn’t feeling too tired.
Our favourite ride was the cars which we could drive ourselves. We had to stay on the left side and stop for traffic lights, there was even a roundabout and petrol station, it was really cool. We think we are better drivers than mum and dad now. Henry was too little for this ride but he went on the smaller cars and drove too – he was really good.
There were roller coasters and other rides and heaps of lego sculptures everywhere. Some of them like the Egyptian guard, were huge. It was a great day and we bought some star wars Lego on the way out and heaps of the little Lego men.
On the last day mum and Catherine went shopping (more books) and we stayed with Henry and Alban and built Thomas train tracks for Henry. Mum said that everyone had built so many for us that we had lots of catching up to do, but we actually really like doing them
Recovery
It seemed to take forever but after 8 days of drips, drains and being mainly stuck in bed I was allowed to leave hospital and return home.
Either mum or dad stayed with me every night which was good. To start with I wasn’t allowed to eat anything except “broth” but it was horrible and tasted like cabbage water and actually made me sick – so I didn't have to eat that anymore! But once I was eating I had all sorts of things, one morning they gave me cornflakes with hot milk – it is not nice DON’T TRY IT!
I had 2 drains stuck in me as well as the IV so it was hard to move about – not that I felt like it anyway – but when they took them out they gave me “laughing gas” which mum and dad thought was really funny (and I did too!)
Once I came home I had a nurse visit me at home to do dressings and was too tired to do anything except sit in a chair. Dad left for Samoa a few days after I got back (he went for a fishing tournament and caught a marlin) and we were supposed to go to England to visit our cousin Henry because it was school holidays but we had to wait a few days because I was still too sick.
We went to legoland the next week though (see next entry) and I have now had 2 weeks back at school and am feeling much better.
